New twist in Rita Waeni murder as new details emerges!

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued an appeal for assistance in locating the primary suspect in the tragic murder of Rita Waeni, which occurred in January 2024.

According to investigators, the suspect, a male individual, remains at large and was identified through CCTV footage.

The DCI has released images of the suspect captured by CCTV on the day of his interaction with Waeni.

The individual was observed wearing a white cap and sunglasses, believed by detectives to be an attempt to evade surveillance cameras.

In an effort to swiftly deliver justice for Waeni and provide closure to her family, the Homicide Directorate is urging anyone who can identify the individual depicted in the somewhat blurry images to come forward with information that could aid in his apprehension.

Describing the suspect as displaying criminal behavior for evading capture by cameras, the DCI disclosed that investigations into his whereabouts uncovered visits to several hotels in Nairobi West and a short-stay apartment along Roysambu TRM Drive in October and November 2023.

The suspect is said to be fluent in Kiswahili and English and possesses good knowledge of Nairobi and its surroundings.

Furthermore, the DCI has recorded statements from individuals of interest and obtained additional data from digital platforms to bolster the case. Earlier, two suspects were arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts on January 22 in connection to the case.
