Revealed; Why ex-Mungiki leader Maina Njenga was arrested.

Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga was on Wednesday 19th July arrested by people believed to be police officers, who were donning in a civilian clothes.

Confirming Maina Njenga’s arrest, his lawyer Ndegwa Njiru stated that his client was taken from his from in kisrian home in Ngong to unknown place.

Further reports indicates that Njenga’s brother and personal assistant was equally arrested.

According to the reports, at the time of the arrest, the former Mungiki leader was at his father’s house when police stormed with unmarked cards and arrested him around 8pm.

“The team said they wanted to question him over ongoing anti-government protests in the country,” his lawyer stated.

Ndegwa now says, he and the family are yet to know where his client Maina Njenga was taken to.

Maina Njenga, who has been close ally to azimio la umoja coalition, was among the over nine Azimio leaders who were arrested in connection to Wednesday’s protests.

According to the reports, among those arrested are Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Raila Odinga’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango, Ken Onyango, Teddy Mwambire and Wilfred Odallo.

Others arrested are Redson Onyango, Eric Otieno, Anthony Otysula and  Raila’s private bodyguard Maurice Ogeta. MORE
