Stop blackmailing Raila Odinga with AUC job, president Ruto warned!

Former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa has urged Kenya Kwanza leaders to cease using the African Union Commission job as a tool to blackmail Azimio leader Raila Odinga for speaking out against the state.

In a statement, Wamalwa emphasized that Azimio would not remain silent and would persist in representing the voice of the majority of suffering Kenyans.

“Our message to Kenya Kwanza is, stop blackmailing Raila Odinga over AUC Chairmanship for calling you out on your shortcomings, and declare the current flood crisis a National disaster!

“Azimio will not be gagged and will remain the Voice of the voiceless, silent, suffering, Majority of Kenyans,” Wamalwa said on X.

His remarks were in response to comments made by a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders, led by National Assembly and Senate Majority leaders Kimani Ichung’wah and Aaron Cheruiyot.

Speaking on Saturday, Ichung’wah emphasized that the position President William Ruto and his administration are advocating for Raila to secure (the AUC chair) warrants respect.

He stressed that Raila must show respect to Ruto, who is spearheading his campaigns, and maintain humility.

“William Ruto understands world politics that’s why he is helping you to become AU Commission chair. But if you were to be helped, my brother Raila Odinga please humble yourself because the position that we are campaigning for you led by President Ruto is a position that calls for humility and respect across the entire African Continent and the world over. Respect your chief campaigner.” More
