Francis Ogolla’s daughter break silence after his death in a chopper crash!

Lorna Omondi Ogolla, daughter of Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla, has broken her silence following the tragic news of her father’s passing in a plane accident in Elgeyo Marakwet.

In a poignant message shared on her LinkedIn page, Lorna hinted at her father’s demise, describing him as a paragon of excellence and leadership.

She mourned his loss, recognizing his unwavering dedication to ensuring Kenya’s safety for over four decades.

“One day, I will share beautiful anecdotes of how he led through action, not just words. But today, I hasten home to bid him farewell as he journeys to the great beyond,” she expressed.

The heartbreaking incident unfolded when a helicopter carrying Ogolla and other officials crashed in Kaben, Marakwet East.

The aircraft, reportedly transporting 12 individuals, including high-ranking officers, erupted in flames upon impact.

Despite rescue efforts, only one survivor, believed to be a photographer, was found amidst the wreckage. The crash site was swiftly secured as investigations commenced.

The tragic flight was part of a mission to survey the area for an upcoming deployment aimed at combatting cattle rustling activities.

Among the passengers were several bureaucratic officers from the Ministry of Defence. The Kenya Air Force Huey Helicopter, departing from a local primary school, tragically met its fate, claiming the lives of esteemed military personnel.

Francis Ogolla assumed the role of Chief of Defence Forces on April 28, 2023, succeeding General Robert Kibochi. Kibochi, having reached the mandatory retirement age of 62, passed the baton to Ogolla in a transition marking changes in the military leadership. More
