ODM Raises New Request to Government Regarding Alleged Conspiracy Against Governor Arati!

The Orange Democratic Party (ODM) is urging the government to enhance the security of Kisii Governor Simba Arati.

According to ODM’s statement on Monday, April 15, the party alleges that Governor Arati is facing harassment from both the police and officials within the National Government, while the government remains silent on the issue.

The party, led by Raila Odinga, further insists that the government must address those responsible for plotting against Governor Arati.

“The ODM party takes note of the recent telephone conversation of a senior police officer in the DCI Kenya that was recorded and has been circulating in the media.

“We demand that Hon. Arati be accorded maximum security as required by law and action taken against the perpetrators of the illegal plans and threats to his life,” read the statement in part.

This call for action follows the emergence of a leaked audio clip involving a high-ranking security official in Kisii County, which revealed a purported strategy to address Kisii Governor Arati and certain individuals in his inner circle.

The five-minute audio clip also revealed the senior security officer’s plan to withdraw security personnel from Governor Arati’s residence and subsequently orchestrate a raid to allegedly recover weapons believed to be there.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki deployed a specialized security team to Kisii County the previous month to address the surge in criminal activities within the region and to hold accountable those responsible for organizing, funding, and executing acts of violence.

Additionally, CS Kindiki announced that there had been alterations in the security personnel stationed in the county.

“The Government has made personnel changes and a special team has been deployed to investigate and bring to account, organizers, financiers, and perpetrators of violent criminal incidents recently witnessed in parts of Kisii County,” said Kindiki. more
