Martha Karua responds to DP Gachagua apology to Mama Ngina Kenyatta!

Martha Karua, the leader of the Narc Kenya Party, has issued a response to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua following his public apology to former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

Karua, while acknowledging the positive gesture of the Deputy President in seeking reconciliation with the family of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, expressed her view that the apology fell short of adequacy.

Despite recognizing the significance of Gachagua’s apology, Karua, known for her critical stance towards the Kenya Kwanza administration, emphasized that the expression of regret lacked essential elements necessary for genuine reconciliation, particularly when addressing someone of the stature of a mother.

In her statement, Karua suggested that Gachagua’s efforts to extend an olive branch to Mama Ngina Kenyatta could have been more substantial than a mere televised apology.

“A step in the right direction but falls short of the required “thinjo” to fully atone when you offend, nay insult your mother or elders,” Karua wrote

Gachagua’s sentiments arose from his desire to reconcile with the former first family, particularly in light of the antagonistic tactics employed by Kenya Kwanza during the 2022 campaign period.

Acknowledging past mistakes, Gachagua humbly extended apologies to Mama Ngina Kenyatta, recognizing the need to mend fences and move beyond the disrespectful rhetoric directed at them during that contentious period.

“I am sorry for involving Mama Ngina Kenyatta in the last general elections politics. She is our mother. I therefore ask for forgiveness on behalf of our team for any inconvenience caused to her.

“I will never allow anyone to demean her or anyone from the region,” said Gachagua. More
