Ruto new message to Raila over the return of maandamano!

President William Ruto has finally responded to former prime minister Raila Odinga on matters the return of maandamano.

The head of state urged the Azimio leader to present viable solutions to the challenges facing the country, rather than advocating for nationwide protests that, according to Ruto, could further worsen Kenya’s struggling economy.

Addressing the gathering at the funeral of Michael Waweru, the father of Nyandarua Senator John Methu in Nyandarua, the president derided the opposition for consistently criticizing the government without providing concrete solutions.

In his address, Ruto asserted that Raila’s warnings about resuming protests, known as “Maandamano,” were a form of intimidation intended to pressure the government into yielding to the opposition’s requests.

“Let me tell the opposition, instead of trying to bring violence, tell Kenyans the alternative that you have. We have told people to pay taxes so that we can pay debt. Don’t tell us about bringing maandamano which will bring bloodshed, and disrupt businesses, how will that help Kenyans?” Ruto posed.

“So, let’s stop all these intimidation tactics, give us viable alternative views if you have any. But this opposition does not have any plans, look at them. They are known for carrying sufurias on their heads while farmers were busy on the farms, now prices of goods are beginning to go down.”

President Ruto’s remarks come after the opposition leader on Saturday 30th December, declared that mass protests, referred to as “Maandamano,” would recommence in 2024 unless the government repealed the Finance Act of 2023. More
