Through its parent company Radio Africa, Homeboyz Radio has fired it’s breakfast show presenters Shaffie Weru, DJ Joe Mfalme and Neville Muysa.
The trio were issued a let go letter following their bad utterances they made on Thursday 25th march in the morning about Eunice Wangari, 20, who was reportedly thrown from 12th floor of a building by a man, after refusing his sexual advances.
The presenters remarks caused stir online and a section of netizen were angered by their comment, demanding action to be taken with immediate effect.
“The comments of said erstwhile employees, were neither authorized, approved nor cleared with the company nor was the subject discussed and/or authorized by the company’s senior leadership. We are deeply disappointed in their conduct,” read a statement signed by Homeboyz Radio general manager Somoina Kimojino.
The station further assured their partners and listeners of it’s commitment to ensuring that presenters are regularly trained on media and gender issues, the ethics of reporting on issues of gender-based violence and sexual assault, inclusivity and diversity and that action will be taken against the three.
“We have determined that their conduct constitutes gross misconduct and an egregious breach of the company’s editorial policies.

Following Shaffie Weru, Neville Muysa and DJ Joe Mfalme’s remarks, Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) has directed Homeboyz Radio to publish a public apology in two newspapers with nationwide circulation and air the same apology on the station during prime time starting from March 28 and to continue for the next five days.
