A 27 years old woman, who was found guilty of aiding a defilement of a minor has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Kibera chief magistrate Joyce Gandani found Juliana Rehema guilty of conspiracy to defile a minor.
Rehema will serve 3 years in jail for the conspiracy offence and 7 years for the gang- defilement, both terms will run concurrently.
Rehema committed the crime in may 19th 2020, in Kibera after she lured the victim into her house with intentions of having her defiled by her (Rehema’s) boyfriend, who later fled to Uganda never to be seen again.
The offence was committed in silanga village in Kibera ,Nairobi. Its said that the victim was drugged and and stayed unconscious for six hours.
According to the victim, she met Rehema a day before she was defiled and told her she want to take her to a trip in Kitengela, that’s when she sought a permission from her mother without telling her she was going to Rehema’s.
She further narrated to the court that, she and Rehema had agreed to meet at 2pm on that fateful day and when she arrived at her house, she found a man whom she had never seen.
Rehema offered her a cup of tea, when she tried to hesitate from taking it, the woman convinced her. Rehema told her she must have sexual intercourse with the man and she would kill her if she tells anyone about it.
Immediately the victim blacked out and woke up after 6hours that was around 8pm half naked and defiled, she walked to her place at round 9pm.
The girl conceived from the act, according to the judgment.
Charges against Rehema read that “on May 19, 2019, having a common intention to (defile) the child, was in company of another who defiled the minor, contrary to section 10 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2006”.
