Mp arrested over kapedo killings!

Tiaty member of parliament William kamket has been arrested over banditry attack in kapedo that left 7 people dead.

The legislator was arrested in Nairobi, on Thursday 21st January.

His arrest comes a day after six people were brutally murdered and dumped in a remote village in Baringo county.

The KANU lawmaker is currently being held in Kileleshwa police station as he await to be transferred to Nakuru for further investigation.

Kamket is accused of inciting local citizens to revolt, an issue that is facing a number of challenges from land and boundary cases to civil wars among different communities.

“The case in court revolving around boundaries ascertained that Kapedo is in Tiaty and Baringo.

“We shall face off with anyone who wants to oppose the decision by the court, the Senate and the will of the people,” Kamket said. 

On Wednesday 20th January 2021, the MP joined a section of leaders from west Pokot and Baringo and appealed to HE. uhuru Kenyatta to look into the ongoing security operation in the area.

Majority leader Samuel Poghisio and Kamket accused the security operators of using excessive force to disarm residents.

However, while speaking to media, CS Fred Matiang’i warned the operation in the area would proceed until individuals propagating the banditry attacks are brought to justice.

“We are going to act decisively. We are going to make sure that those involved are facilitated to meet with the law.

“By the time we are done, it will be a story to be told to the generations to come.

“I am asking those who know those who murdered our senior police officer to surrender them. We will go for them no matter how long it will take us,” Matiang’i said.

Rift valley regional commissioner, George Natembeya, also added and said that, police were disarming locals who processed illegal firearms and also law enforcers were ordered to flush out criminals. More
