Johnstone Muthama’s ex wife Agnes Kavindu has declared her interest in the incoming Machakos senate by-election, setting the ground to battle with her ex husband Johnstone Muthama, who is leading campaign plans by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
According to source close to her, Kavindu stated that she was considering her option and she would announce which party she will be competing the by election with because, both jubilee and wiper are at disposal subject to meeting their requirements.
This is after local pundits claimed that, president uhuru Kenyatta, ODM party leader Raila Odinga and wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka are considering the option of fronting a singular ‘handshake’ candidate to cling the march 18th by-election.
Kavindu is seen to enjoy the support of President Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila Odinga due to her membership in the Building Bridges Initiative Steering Committee.
In 2017, she vied for Machakos women rep on a jubilee ticket, but she lost to wiper’s Joyce Kamene.
Musyoka kaka , who came second in the 2017 General elections after the late senator Boniface Kabaka, is also interested in the big seat.
Muthama and his ex-wife are expected to face off in campaign rallies where their differences are likely to play out.
Recently, Muthama and Ruto met the twelve aspirant interested in vying on a UDA ticket , where by former senator stated that, his party will undertake a scientific to determine who among the twelve was most popular and they will grant them the ticket.
Ruto is expected to throw his weight behind the UDA candidate after participating in the aspirants’ meeting on Tuesday, January 5, 2020.
Other candidates who are interested in the seat includes, the former water minister John Mutua Katuku who will vie with Machakos governor Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo chap chap ticket.
The late Senator Kabaka’s wife Jennifer Mueni has also been fronted as a possible candidate.
