Ministry of education has announced the official date of reopening the schools in January for all learners. This has come days after president uhuru Kenyatta hinted on reopening of schools for all learners during the state of nation address on November 12th.
Education cabinet secretary professor George Magoha made the announcement on Monday 16th November 2020, hours after holding a brief meeting with education stakeholders, saying that, all learners will resume their second term classes on January 4th 2021.
He added and said that, all four years old will be expected to join PP1 in January 4th, and learners who will be going back to school include those in PP1 and 2, Grades 1,2,3, Class 5, 6 and 7, Form 1,2 and 3.
The education ministry stated that, the second term will run from 4th January 2021 to march 19th 2021, and take 7 weeks holiday to allow class eight and form four candidates to seat for their national exams.
Magoha also posed and said that, as other learners complete their third term, grade 4 and incoming form one’s will stay back at home.
Mrs. Nancy Zacharias the CEO of teacher service commissioner, has ordered teacher who are aged 58 years and above to stay at home. She noted that, it was a presidential order to stay at home, and that they are not sacked. “TSC has negotiated for teachers to be covered for COVID-19 related illnesses,” She added. More
