On 31 october 2020, deputy president William Ruto defended his ally Mathira Mp Rigathi Gachagua from allegation levelled against him for misusing public funds.
Speaking to Mathira people in Nyeri county, during his visit, Ruto said that, the accusations levelled against Rigathi of misusing 12 billion public funds were just but politics instigated, and that Mathira mp is clean.
“I want to tell DCI to leave Rigathi Gachagua alone. I want to tell those in charge of the Criminal Justice System not to use the system for matters of politics and to settle political scores,
“Rigathi is being harassed due to his political affiliation but he is not at fault. Those behind Gachagua’s woes are people who do not want him to take his money to church,” he said.
Ruto went ahead and praised Rigathi for being a honest man because, he has been involved in many projects in his constituency. Project like construction of Road, supply of water and even recently launch a training institute for the youth in Mathira constituency. More
