A female mp living with HIV test positive for COVID-19.
A Zambian MP princess Kasune zulu, who’s living with HIV has tested positive for covid 19.
Ms Zulu speaking to BBC, said that Zambian parliament had initially continued to hold meetings despite the high rises of the COVID-19 cases in the country, hence she was not surprised by the result after she tested positive for covid 19.
“I guess one saw it coming given the laissez-faire attitude we have in Zambia towards the health guidelines, and seeing that at parliament we had continued meeting in person when we should have carried on business from our homes via virtual systems,” she said.
Zambian parliament has now been suspended it’s sitting after 15 more MPs tested positive so far.
“The lack of adhering to guidelines, the politicisation of issues and lack of leadership at critical time has fuelled the surge of Covid-19 in Zambia.” she added.
She has also encouraged people living with any health conditions to be keen and careful and always follow medication instructions in this Coronavirus era.
Zambia has to date reported 4,481 coronavirus cases since March and 139 deaths.
