Revealed: Why ex-CJ Maraga made a surprise visit to the state-house!

Former chief Justice David Maraga on Wednesday 14th September 2022 made a surprise appearance at the state house Nairobi, a day after the fifth president was sworn-in into the office.

Maraga joined president William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua with his section of members of the judiciary.

At the time Maraga visited, the head of state was presiding over the swearing-in of six judges who had been nominated by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for appointment during former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure.

In the exercise at the state-house , Wednesday14th, the president was also joined by by Chief Justice Martha Koome and her Deputy Philomena Mwilu.

The oath of office was administered to the six judges by the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi.

Speaking after the event, the commander in chief pointed out that he was looking forward in working close with the Judiciary, adding that it was  was important to have an independent and efficient Judiciary calling for the support of the institution.

“I’m aware that there is need for us to support the Judiciary and is supporting the Judiciary we can not only dispense justice but also make justice less complicated and more accessible… It is important that we have an efficient, independent Judiciary,” the President said. More
