Chaos at Kasarani as crowd breach fence, force their way in to the stadium for Ruto’s swearing-in!

Commotion rocked the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani early Tuesday morning as a hundreds of Kenyans attending the inauguration of President-elect William Ruto broke into the stadium.

Minutes past 6AM, police said they were unable to control the crowd, which broke the Kasarani Stadium fence and trooped in without being frisked .

Videos from the event showed hordes of people streaming into the stadium screaming hysterically, Some even sustained injuries, with Red Cross personnel seen evacuating the casualties out of the scene.

“In anticipation of being part of history, Kenyans have thronged to the venue in large numbers. By 5.00 am this morning, the venue had already filled to capacity, as more people continued to troop to the venue.

“To avoid logistical challenges, this is to request the public to make alternative arrangements to view the proceedings, especially from the comfort of their homes.”,” Spokesperson Bruno Shioso said in a statement early in the morning

Some 80,000 people, including 20 Heads of State, will attend the inauguration ceremony as Dr. Ruto takes over as Kenya’s fifth president alongside his deputy Rigathi Gachagua. More
