Revealed: Why Raila has quit presidential debate!

Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate, former premier and ODM party leader Raila Odinga, who is also the opposition leader has quit the much awaited presidential debate.

The debate, which was scheduled for next week, Tuesday, 26th of July 2022 will give all the four presidential hopefuls a chance to explain to Kenyans why they should hire them.

It all started with Ruto, who said that he might not attend the debate because the media was in favour of Raila Odinga, who is being supported by president Uhuru Kenyatta and the entire Royal media fraternity.

Now, Raila is saying that he will not share a podium with Ruto. According to the incoming commander of all defense forces, traditional debate structure with opposing candidates is a bad idea this year.

According to Odinga’s presidential secretariat Makau Mutua, the candidate, despite the fact he will not attend the debate will hold a similar exercise with his running mate Martha Karua to avert what they termed as an anticipated ’empty self-serving political theatre.’

“In lieu of a traditional debate, we plan to take part in a televised town hall at Jericho social hall in Nairobi Eastlands with ordinary Kenyans to offer our solutions to challenges facing the country and common people,” said Mutua in a statement. More
