Martha Koome last warning to DP Ruto and team after telling her to resign!

Chief justice Martha Koome has taken a swipe at DP William Ruto and his team after they asked her to step down for involving herself in politics.

Addressing delegates at the devolution conference that was held in Makueni on Thursday, 25h of November 2021, the outspoken leader said there is no way her role in the intergovernmental committee will have any influence in the election polls outcome.

According to Koome, there was no political influence in the committee affirming that the judiciary was a key stakeholder in the country’s electoral system.

“The Judicial Service Act gives me the mandate to be the link for the Judiciary with other government agencies. It also creates the National Council on Administration of Justice whose mandate is to collaborate and coordinate all the actors in the administration of justice to ensure that at the end of the day we render seamless services.

“I met an intergovernmental committee on election preparedness and was attacked for holding the meeting. The judiciary cannot make decisions on it’s own,” the CJ stated.

Martha further hit back at United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party for making unjustified demands, wondering if she would get the same criticism if she was working on their favor.

“I was left wondering what would happen if I meet politicians,” Koome questioned.

The chief justice was responding after DP Ruto allies lead by Aden Duale accused her of meddling with affairs of an independent institution saying she should resign and join their competitors. More
