On Thursday, 10th June 2021, Deputy president William Ruto took a bold decision to lecture his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta and others who thought they can fix anything to fit into their agendas.
William Ruto showed his support to the former chief justice Willy Mutunga and his counterpart David Maraga on upholding and protecting the constitution.
In a seemingly cover up attack on President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, Ruto stated that the constitution had given all officers enough powers to carry out their work.
Ruto, who was speaking to kiambu leaders from his Karen home stated that, if there is a constitutional office holder and was unsatisfied with the power allocated to him/her, then it should be that person to change and not for the supreme law to be adjusted.
“Our friends believe that the Constitution and institutions created by the Constitution and the law should facilitate those in power to drive their agenda and if their agenda is in conflict with the constitution, they believe the constitution should be changed to fit into their agenda,” deputy president stated.
