CS Matiang’i gives Kenyans a public holiday!

Interior cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has wowed section of Kenyans after announcing a public holiday at the middle of the month of May 2021.

As parents and teachers prepare to open schools next week on 10th May 2021, the government has decided to give one day holiday to celebrate our Muslim brothers and sisters.

through a Gazette notice no. 4205 dated Wednesday, May 5, Matiang’i declared Friday, 14th of May 2021 a public holiday to mark Idd ul Fitr.

“It is notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(1) of the Public Holidays Act, declares that Friday, the 14th May, 2021, shall be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr,” the notice stated.

This comes as Muslims all over the world face tough times with their prayers due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions. They are forced to pray for less hours and congregate in few numbers. More
