Drama in parliament as Murathe tried to blame Ruto for his KEMSA scam deal!

Embakasi East member of parliament Babu Owino has finally spoken about Murathe’s Kemsa scandal that involved ksh 4billion taxpayers money.

Owino has defended Murathe saying that the jubilee vice chairman is not a thief and he was never given a tender by Kemsa in the first place.

“I am defending Hon. Murathe as he was never given a tender worth Ksh. 4 Billion & they never supplied. We fight those who stole money” babu owino stated in hot debate in parliament.

On 29th April 2021, a drama was experienced in parliament where jubilee vice chairman David Murathe had appeared to clear his name on the ongoing ksh7.8 billion kenya medical supplies authority (Kemsa) scandal.

Murathe, appeared before the National Assembly Public Investigation Committee (PIC) to defend himself and clear his name after he was accused of influencing the tender process and stranding in as a signatory of kilig company.

MPs and Murathe engaged in a shouting competition, with politics and tribal accusations taking centre stage, after he tried to deny the accusation.

Murathe went ahead and claimed that, the killing limited had transferred his ownership to a person aligned to deputy president William Ruto and that he however did not benefit from the ksh4 billion tender reportedly awarded to killing.

Murathe added that, the tender process was cancelled and he was only a signatory of their bank accounts, and his role was only to assure that the firm would be paid after the tender process was completed.

However, PIC chairman mvita member of parliament Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, did not buy his statement of defense, arguing that Murathe’s claim were unsubstantiated.

“This is the first time I have seen one company with different bank signatures. One by Murathe another by Ruto’s associate. There is more than meets the eye here.

I will write to the bank and KEMSA and ask them to provide all evidence as one of these letters indicates that Kilig revived the tender once it was cancelled,” MP Nassir said.
